Education/Paraprofessional

Requirements:

  • An Associate’s Degree, or 60 college credit hours, or successful completion of the Pearson Education Paraprofessional Assessment
  • Twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Be able to read and write.  Have the ability to understand, and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate an interest in youth and their educational welfare.
  • Ability and desire to assist the teacher in providing an educational opportunity for the handicapped child to attain his/her maximum potential.
  • Experience in working with children in a group setting.
  • Ability to work well with learning community, parents teachers, students, administrators and staff with courtesy, tact, and good judgment along with having good customer service skills.
  • Be of good character, neat in personal appearance, dependable, reliable, prompt, and flexible and have pleasing manners and personality.
  • Ability to cooperate with teachers and willingness to take directions from teaching staff.
  • Ability to stay uninvolved unless directed by the teacher, even if a situation is perceived differently than the teacher sees it.
